OTHER WORK

While primarily known for creating music for advertising, Music Orange has a diverse portfolio that includes a variety of projects. Over the years, we have developed TV themes, game trailers, multi-tracks, in-house libraries, remixes, band recordings, on-hold music, software, viral videos, and ringtones. Our skilled team of producers and composers is equipped to creatively tackle any challenge presented to them, delivering high-quality audio solutions across different media.

Nickelodeon
TV THEME | “SpongeBob SquarePants Theme Song”

THE PROJECT: “SpongeBob SquarePants” needs little introduction, but in case you’ve been in a coma or meditation retreat for the past twenty-odd years, it's one of the longest-running animated series and Paramount Consumer Products' most lucrative intellectual property. The franchise includes three feature films with more planned, two spin-off series also set to expand, and numerous awards. The theme song has been covered by artists including Avril Lavigne, Cee-Lo Green, and Violent Femmes.

THE MUSIC: When Stephen Hillenburg first approached Music Orange (then known as Hank Smith Music), no one could have predicted the phenomenal success that was to follow. Our composers, Blaise Smith and Mark Harrison, worked closely with Hillenburg to create the catchy tune that would become iconic. The rest, as they say, is history.

KQED
TV THEME | “Spark”

THE PROJECT: Produced by KQED, “Spark” is both a television show and an educational outreach initiative. Going beyond simply displaying art pieces and profiling the artists behind them, “Spark” invites viewers into the creative process. It explores the challenges, opportunities, and rewards involved in artistic creation.

THE MUSIC: The showrunners understood that given its focus on arts and music arts, the theme song would need to be special and unique. Music Orange composed and produced two versions of the theme, the first performed by the innovative classical string quartet Kronos Quartet, and the second by esteemed jazz saxophonist Joshua Redman.

Techland / Ubisoft
GAME TRAILER | “Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood”

THE PROJECT: “Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood” immerses players in the Old West of 1864, where the McCall brothers navigate through conflicts over wealth and loyalty. Developed by Techland and published by Ubisoft, this first-person shooter lets players control one of the two brothers, offering a deep dive into the era's rugged romanticism. Drawing from both Spaghetti Westerns and classical Hollywood westerns, the game uniquely blends cinematic styles to capture the lawlessness and allure of the Old West.

THE MUSIC: For the game's trailer, Ubisoft commissioned Music Orange to compose an authentic country song that narrates a gunslinger's apology to his mother for his past deeds. We introduced a fictional singer named Carlton West to perform the song, which sparked considerable interest and led to numerous inquiries about where to purchase West's records.

EA Games
GAME SOUNDTRACK | “The Urbz: Sims in the City”

THE PROJECT: “The Urbz: Sims in the City,” the third entry in the Sims series and sequel to “The Sims Bustin' Out,” takes players to the urban setting of Urbzville, divided into nine distinct districts with unique styles and residents. Famed R&B group Black Eyed Peas provided several tracks for the soundtrack, all translated into Simlish, and also make appearances as characters in the game. This installment offers a distinct, city-focused twist on the traditional Sims gameplay.

THE MUSIC: Music Orange was tasked with creating two tracks for the game's radio stations: one for “Pootie's Top 40” and another for “Eel-ectronica,” each designed to match the unique and quirky vibe of the respective stations. The primary challenge involved crafting lyrics in Simlish, the constructed language of the Sims, to ensure authenticity and integration into the game's world.

Sons of Science
MUSIC VIDEO | “Motherf@#cking Bike”

THE PROJECT: San Francisco's vibrant two-wheeled scene, consisting of commuters, bike messengers, and tricksters alike, provides the perfect setting for some sharp-witted humor. In their music video, Sons of Science, all cyclists themselves, highlight the humorous side of classic cyclist stereotypes.

THE MUSIC: Sons of Science teamed up with Music Orange to produce a catchy tune that perfectly blended urban vibes with comedic elements. Music Orange composer Hector Perez also made a memorable cameo, performing a bike-horn solo that temporarily gained a cult-like following.

Sons of Science
MUSIC VIDEO | “Zen as Fck”

THE PROJECT: Following their hit "Motherf@#cking Bike" video, Sons of Science turned their satirical lens towards another ripe subject—yoga. This music video humorously spotlights different yoga personality types. We’re not sure, but they may have even been trying to sell some custom yoga mats and towels in there somewhere.

THE MUSIC: Music Orange was enlisted once more to craft a track that respectfully nods to zen music while butchering it for the sake of comedy. The track was even tuned to 432HZ, which is said to have some healing benefits.

Apple
SOFTWARE | “Magic GarageBand”

THE PROJECT: GarageBand for OS X revolutionized the way individuals create music with its feature, Magic GarageBand. This innovative tool allowed musicians to select instruments and play along with a full band across various genres, with the unique ability to mix and match performance styles for each instrument—such as having a guitar in one style, bass in another, and drums in a third. Ideal for refining skills or quickly crafting backing tracks, Magic GarageBand enabled the creation of high-quality productions on the fly.

THE MUSIC: Music Orange was hired to develop two of the Magic GarageBand genres—Rock and Jazz. This presented a significant technical challenge, as each indivdual instrument included multiple performances, playing in different styles, that had to mix and match flawlessly with one another. We needed to ensure that nearly 20 different performances in each song matched perfectly in both feel and rhythm.
